These are the choices of articles to use in your first fieldwork paper.

Choose an article about gossip or storytelling or humor and skim over it, looking for examples of concepts that seem to apply to what you've observed in the group you are studying. Make sure that you understand and can define the concept(s) in your paper and explain why and how they help illustrate humor, gossip, or storytelling in your own fieldwork observations.

(You can also refer to examples and comparisons from the article that seem not to represent cultural use of humor, gossip, or storytelling in your observation group and explain why things are different.)

These articles are not all easy to read as they are academic articles. Sift through your article of choice to see how much you can understand. It often takes time, persistence and practice to read these kinds of articles, but being able to access science-based studies empowers you because you can do your own research in the future.
